The original soundtrack to the award winning German movie of the same name by Andreas Dresen. Creating the movie and the music for it, was a singular experience. The film had no written script and was developed by the director and cast as they went along, living together for three months in 2001 on site in Frankfurt/Oder. We joined them from time to time, and some of the music was played live during shots. We created a lot of the film score in a similar way, improvising sounds and atmospheres to little story lines. Some of the music was then used during the writing of a scene to enhance the feel of what they were planning to shoot. Some tunes were randomly recorded (there were many more) and used in the editing process of the film. The only tune written after the three month process was over is “Mad Bad Cat”, our first ever song, written on request for the credit section of the movie.
